What SafeNet Volunteers Do

Our volunteers form the backbone of our cyber protection initiatives. Depending on your skills and interests, you can contribute in various ways:

  • Digital Monitoring: Help identify and document instances of hate speech, cyberbullying, and misinformation targeting the Zomi community.
  • Education & Outreach: Conduct digital literacy and cyber safety workshops for community members of all ages.
  • Content Creation: Develop educational materials, social media posts, and campaign assets that promote digital dignity.
  • Translation: Help make our resources accessible by translating them into various Zomi dialects and other languages.
  • Tech Support: Provide technical assistance to community members facing online harassment or digital security issues.
SafeNet Volunteers in Action - Digital Defenders

SafeNet Training Program

All SafeNet volunteers receive comprehensive training to equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively protect our community.

Orientation

Begin with an introduction to ZCPU, our mission, and the challenges facing the Zomi community online. Learn about our code of conduct and community guidelines.

Duration: 1 week (self-paced online modules)

Core Training

Develop essential skills in digital literacy, cyber safety, fact-checking, and documenting online incidents. Learn how to identify and respond to various forms of online harassment.

Duration: 2 weeks (online modules + live virtual sessions)

Specialization

Choose from specialized tracks based on your interests and skills: Digital Monitoring, Education & Outreach, Content Creation, Translation, or Tech Support.

Duration: 2 weeks (specialized training modules)

Practicum

Apply your knowledge in real-world scenarios under the guidance of experienced mentors. Begin contributing to SafeNet initiatives with supervision and support.

Duration: 1 month (guided practical experience)

Certification & Full Membership

Receive your official SafeNet Defender certification and join our global network of volunteers. Gain access to ongoing training, resources, and community support.

Achievement: Certified SafeNet Defender Status

All training materials are provided free of charge. Flexible scheduling options are available to accommodate volunteers from different time zones and with varying commitments.
